 In terms of 16 bit to 8 bit conversion I wouldn't think so either. owever I know 
when you send a large file over to the 10K which is say 150 ppi or so  the 
printer software does a remarkable job of ripping that file to 1440 and the 
output is a lot better than if you increased this file size in Photoshop to make a 
larger print from this less than appropriate file size. The driver does do things 
differently than Photoshop but exactly what and how that may apply to high bit 
files, I haven't a clue. I belive there are different theories about this.
