Workflow for bw in cs is as follows. Scan in true RGB 16bit or 12bit (not 8bit). Run all your adjustement layers in 16bit. Flatten after the first day, flatten your 16bit image and save a copy as "image_16bitflat_adjusted.tif". Then go back in your history to unflattened 16bit and convert to 8bit. Duplicated your background layer (base scan) and trash the "locked" layer. Then trash your duplicated layer. Your are left with only adjustment layers. Save this as "image_8bitlayers.tif" NOTE: if you have gradient masks in your adjust layers file, save it as 16bit and not 8bit. Then go back in history to your 16bit layers state (with the base image). Delete all adjustment layers. Save this as "image_16bitflat_base.tif When you come back to the image the next day, take a look at your 16bitflat_udjusted file. If you like it, start from there. If you don't, start from the 16bitflat_base file and drag your 8bit adjustment layers over it. This is all assuming you are working with base-scan sizes over 500 megabytes and will be going over the 2gig load limit for an image. The next cs will have simple 32bit support and full 16bit support and will come out after OS Tiger comes out (Tiger has 64bit support for the G5s). It will probably have 4 times the load limit for an image as well. take care Walker On Mar 20, 2005, at 06:49 PM, <aderca@...> wrote: > Hi Mat > > Sorry I can't comment on QTR but if you want > a "canned" solution for B&W within Photoshop CS, > give this link a try : > > http://powerretouche.com/index.htm > > I've had it for about a year, I use the 8 bit version > which was more affordable.
