Following up on my own post here... I talked to MIS tech
support (Rob) yesterday--two things to report:

(1) He suggested a possible cause might be that ink
dried in the sponge part of the cart, forming a blockage
that goofed up the flow of ink in the cart. He also
said that letting carts sit half-full in the printer
for a couple of weeks without printing daily purge
patterns could lead to this. I've never heard anyone
suggest this here, though, and it hasn't been a problem
for me in the past. I thought the daily purge pattern
was only for CIS setups... I'm confused.

(2) He had no thoughts on the air bubbles forming
in the cart when I squeezed the sides (gently) near the
output port. Personally, that looks REALLY fishy to me.
Can anyone confirm that this is either definitely normal
or bad? There's no ink leaking out, which would of course
mean there was definitely a problem. He said they would
try to duplicate this but hasn't called back. I'm trying
to figure out whether to scrap these carts and order
new ones.

Again, advice and opinions needed. I hate to just toss
carts if they aren't the issue, but I can't think of
what else to do.
