Ann, I've been doing monotones for a good while but not entirely satisfied with my prints. I first printed with 1280 and for the last 2 years a 2200. I have been considering ( for about 2 years LOL) converting my 1280 to a dedicated b/w printer but have not gotten around to it. I learned about QTR and demoed it for several weeks--decided it was just the thing for me since I use the 2200 for color prints also and did not want to make it a dedicated b/w printer. I'm very pleased with the prints. Its worth trying and you can get help here and on the new QTR mail list/forum ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/QuadtoneRIP/ ). In the past I converted to duotones (quads actually most of the time) to try and deal with metamerism but QTR deals with most of it. I would recommend it. Is there a method to upgrade my level of printing using this technique. The messages I have been reading on this site seem to support using shades of black inks on dedicated printers, and QTR or RIP. Not being a technocrat this is a new level of learning for me. Alternatives? Thanks montauklady gpfly205ss@... [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
