I think most of the 1280 problems were cart problems.  If you haven't tried
the new sponge-less carts, that might be the first step.  My 1280 was about
to get thrown in the trash before the new easy-refill, spongeless carts
arrived.  So far, they've been great.

I do not recommend continuous feed systems.  The easy-refill carts for 2200
are also excellent.
