That's what I keep reading.  My 1280 has been around a good long while--can't remember when I got it, but its been used quite a lot until I bought the 2200 over 2 years ago and its not been used too much since--but, of course, was used with OEM inks all that while.

  I'm of the opinion the OEM dye carts should never
  even touch the machine if you're going to put pigments in it. Mixing the two 
  may be a bigger source of trouble than we think.

  An addendum to my last post - I never installed the OEM dye carts in my 1280 
  before using the MIS inks.  May be a key as Steve suggests.
