My carts do have spongy (white in color) material on the side that feeds ink to the print heads. Maybe I'm going to find myself approaching the 5-6X useful life that you've experienced. I've probably refilled about 3 or 4 times so far. Certainly affects the economy of using this system. Does anyone sell carts without sponges? Are sponges necessary? Anyone know about this issue? Thanks.
