I did some more testing and find that overprinting the black tones in an image give substantially darker 100% K. I don't have a spectro or densitometer, but my ScanMaker4 detects a significant change from a maximum K from level 57 to 50, as read in PS6 with the Histogram. Of course this requieres running the paper through the printer twice, which is unconventional and a bit tricky, but isn't there a way to get as much ink down in one pass? I'm obviously not getting all the black I could. I'll try bumping up the Epson driver settings, since that's the way I'm printing using Paul Raork's grayscale adjustment curve for UT-FSN, and let you know if I have any success, but please let me know if you've already been this route and what you found.
