Andy, I have noticed a difference in smoothness and banding among my BO experiments on the same printer with the same ink and settings. I don't know what causes it. I think that I did a cleaning cycle even thought the nozzle check looked fine and it improved it. So, I'd first be sure the best settings are used, but I'd also consider trying a cleaning cycle even though the nozzle check looks good. I don't think the chips make any difference.
