MIS PKN

MIS PKN

2005-04-08 by Andy Graham

Paul,....or anyone else who might know.

I mentioned before that i have tried the new PKN ink from mis
(printing b/o).The first cartridge exhibited a very, very slight
banding(almost imperceptable(to me)on a vey dark print.The one i am
using now, trying to print a lighter toned photo exhibits a huge
amount of banding. The "dots" are much more noticiable also. All of
this compared to a b/o print made with the epson ink, which is very
warm.

I intend to take your(Paul's) suggestion about mixing mis pk and pkn
to achieve a tone i like, but am hesitant to do so if i can't figure
out how to "fix" the banding, etc with the mis inks i have tried.

Admittedly,i don't know much about chips,curves,profiles etc.Are the
chips set differently?is the viscosity of the ink different?...any
suggestions on how to "fix" this?

thanks,

andy graham

Andy,

I have noticed a difference in smoothness and banding among my BO
experiments on the same printer with the same ink and settings. I don't
know what causes it. I think that I did a cleaning cycle even thought the
nozzle check looked fine and it improved it.

So, I'd first be sure the best settings are used, but I'd also consider
trying a cleaning cycle even though the nozzle check looks good.

I don't think the chips make any difference.
