Digital BW, The Print

Hello group,
Today I tried for the first time the clear cartridges and MIS UT2 
inks from 4oz bottles on my Epson 1290. Nothings works, I'm afraid. 
Now I have to find out what exactly went wrong. Once I put the filled 
cartriges into the printer I could not get good nozzle check (almost 
all nozzles blocked), and after the first printout on plain paper 
(just to see whathappens) I noticed that the cart leaves drops of ink 
at the left (farther form where the cart parks) border of A4 sheet I 
was printing, the sponge where the cart parks was also full of ink 
and when I removed the cartriges there was a small amount of ink 
inside the cart near the valves. So my first try at self refilling 
was a disaster. Now what could go wrong?
First of all, my cartridges didn't have rubber plugs in round holes 
at top where I was inserting needle with ink. When I filled all 
chambers and primed the cartridges I taped the holes so that no air 
could come in (at least I thought so).
I injected about 14cc of ink into black cartridge and 12cc into each 
color chamber. Was it too much ink so that it began to spill out as 
the cart was moving? Please help if anybody knows what's going on.
