I had the exact same problem although I did use the translucent plugs, I did withdraw a small amount of ink from each chamber and I did get a good nozzle check. However, with my first print, large ink drops appeared on the left portion of the print and smeared nearly halfway across. After hours of fooling around with it I did a head-cleaning per Paul's instructions. The same thing happened again. I then installed a refilled UT1 cart and am getting good nozzle checks and prints with no banding or ink drops. Have not yet re-installed the spongeless clear cart with UT2 inks after letting it sit for two days. BTW, I did leave in the spongeless cart with Eboni so that particular cart was not the problem. Will advise when I re-install the 5 chamber clear cart. Maybe a defective cart?
