Digital BW, The Print

hello all, 

i am a peace corps volunteer who just got home from africa. i am very
interested in printing b&w digitally. i have a 1280 printer and was
wondering about inks, papers, rips, profiles etc. if any one can help
me  in getting started i would appreciate it. i have about 10,000
images to go through and about 3/4 of them are b&w, so, i will be busy
and since this is where printing is going i would like to jump on the
bandwagon. well have a great day and thanks for your help.
