If you're looking at new printers, the 2200 is the best, with the 1280 just about as good in terms of image quality. [My recommendation of the 1280 is contingent on the sponge-less carts being available and working as well as they have so far. (See http://www.inksupply.com/spongless_carts.cfm)] You'll find the UT7 and UT2 curves much easier than the old curves. With both systems you can use the Y position to have glop, a super-light UT-FS-Y, or any number of custom inks. If you're looking at used and print only matte and monotone, the 2000P is an excellent UT-FS printer -- best dmax.
