Well, actually I had a different experience with Gray Balancer than Tom and most others. Tom is correct, that the general consensus was it wasn't worth the trouble. I may have just been lucky, but after MANY hours of tweaking the Gray balancer for my particular 2200 machine, I got the best B&W on certain cotton papers that I've ever been able to achieve. I've not been able to get as good tonality and DMax with my 4000 (which replaced the 2200), although I'm getting some pretty good results with the Quadtone RIP. My prints with the 2200 and the Gray Balancer not only looked great, but they were essentially metamerism free. I was using Eboni black ink in the 2200 with the Gray Balancer settings. I suppose I could hack the gray balancer to work with the 4000, but I've decided it was too much time and pain to do again. If Roy Harrington hadn't come up with the Quadtone RIP, I'd be tempted though.
