Re: [Digital BW] Adobe Camera raw and Photo Shop CS

The third party converters tend to be backward compatible, but you won't find PS doing that. As they offer new versions they include the newer cameras in it. While PSCS was the version offered they continued to add new cameras as they came out--after the new version comes out--they won't because they don't offer PSCS either. That's not the reason I won't upgrade (I'm sticking with my 10D, D60 and old D30 until the successor to the 20D comes out next Spring--I assume---or I decide to buy a FF or 1.3x camera) however. I don't think the new version offers me anything I need right now. I did feel PSCS offered sufficient reason to upgrade over PS7 (where I bought the RAW plugin for $99--when PSCS came out it was no longer either offered or supported since they no longer offered PS7 and if I wanted to use ACR for newer cameras I had to buy PSCS--altho' I don't use it as my RAW converter).

  Richard,

I don't want a raw converter for nothing. I have CS and it contains
the camera raw program. My gripe, which may or may not be
reasonable, is not maintaining some sort of backward compatability. I
am not sure that it is fair to require the upgrade to get CS, which I
am happy with, to work with a new camera. Scam may have been a bit
strong. But, I think my point is reasonable.

  Steve
