Digital BW, The Print

Kodak (the real version, not today's) sold B&W spotting dyes, dry on a
cardboard base...lick the brush, dab. 

I'm certain (some of) the traditional Japanese stick inks (for brush
painting/calligraphy) do as well or better than spottone...or did, in
ancient times (70s).
