That I very much doubt. Opening up a propriortorial anything often causes
the originator the most serious problems because "A.N Other" gets hold of
the primary facility and attempts to "improve" it in some way or other.

Then the end user will blame any problems encountered as the fault of the
Originator rather than the 3rd party fiddler and probably attempt to get the
originator to put right that which he did not put wrong.

The real advantage in "opening up" is to the 3rd party supplier who can
attempt to make a living by modifying a concept in such a way as to
encourage the development of a multi sector market.

It can also be beneficial where price is concerned, to the end user, because
the "little man" offering a "special" will probably accept a lower margin on
sales simply in order to generate sales.
