John,

As Walt indicated, Eboni is a matte black -- just more neutral and a bit
darker in some printers than the UC MK.

The reason I put it in a PK cart is to have the driver show all the media
types. "Premium Glossy" media type prints with a better dmax on matte paper
than do the matte media types. So, I'm just using a hack to get a bit of an
improvement from the dmax-challenged Epson 7600 driver. I might end up
abandoning the Epson driver for a rip that can deliver a real matte dmax.
But, especially on Windows, the rips have their own problems.

With respect to avoiding the ink switching problems, that is taken care of
with UT7. It prints on either media type without any ink changing required.
The 2 dark grays together deliver an excellent dmax even with the Epson
driver. Of course, Photoshop RGB curves are needed, and the MK is not used
at all.

(The MIS Universal K, as with all of those, is a hybrid pig-dye that I won't
use.)
