I really don't know why the tape is there. They ship the carts with the fill hole uncovered. Remove the tape BEFORE filling the carts. Also, let the cart sit in an up-right position for an hour before putting a plug in hte fill hole. Then, take a bottom-fill adapter, and remove a little ink from the bottom port on the cart. The idea is to remove any air that maybe trapped there. Install the carts and run a "nozzle check". Is the nozzle check is no good, let the printer sit for an hour or so and then try again. DON'T RUN A CLEANING CYCLE! It will only make things worse.
