Re: [Digital BW] MIS ink cartridges not working.

2005-05-29 by Nick H. Nugent

Hello Morley,

Your cartridges were pre-filled EZ Neutral b/w carts so they came to
you with the vent holes sealed, and of course the fill holes plugged.
Your initial attempt to use the carts with the vent holes still sealed
was the main problem. After several cleaning cycles the print head
chambers are now seriously blocked by air bubbles, or foam. And worse
yet the cart outlets may also be filled with foam as well. The
cleaning pump on these C series or new Epson printers are very
powerful, it will pull air in around the rubber seal where the cart
meets the printhead if the ink flow is blocked for some reason.

Some suggested you use the original Epson C86 carts to get back good
nozzle checks, that's a great idea. The MIS purging carts will also
work, maybe even better, to remove the trapped air pockets inside the
head. The MIS purging carts are good at travelling into the head's
tiny capillaries to break up foam.

Then if there is still ink in your EZ cart try this trick without
using the bottom fill adapter: wrap your cart in a paper towel and
place it in a plastic bag, tie the bag and cart with a rubber band,
and give it several centrifugal spins with the cart outlet facing
outward. You may not have enough ink to use the bottom fill adapter
anyway. Then try again.

Good luck,
--nick
