Digital BW, The Print

I'll take a shot at this since no one has replied. The settings you
describe below are for the Gimpprint printer driver. I suspect the MIS
instructions are for the Epson driver. Panther installs these
gimpprint drivers by default (or used to anyway) and they are hard to
tell apart from the official Epson driver at first.
Make sure you have installed the real Epson driver that came with the
printer, or download it from the Epson site, and set it up in the
Print Center. You can delete the Gimpprint "Epson" driver there as well.
Then the settings you will see will correspond with your instructions.
