This depends on the sensor. Some of the newer DSLR's do have the filter 
integrated (I believe the 20d is this way) while most older DSLR's have 
a seperate filter which can be removed.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
