Exactly what I'll be trying with my 4000, but I'm hoping that MIS  
will eventually have k3 clone inks in bulk.  The biggest obstacle is  
the 4000 firmware that does not allow 3rd party RIPs access to both K  
slots at the same time for printing with the 3rd gray ink.  Is it  
possible to hack the firmware to get rid of this obstacle?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
