Re: [Digital BW] IJC/OPM Update - Recreate profiles

2005-06-04 by Louis Dina

The ink limits were increased on all ink positions for specific
printers.

It's not that difficult to switch over. Let's say you had a profile
for a 2200 on EEM that you wanted to use as a basis for your 7600.
Let's also assume the 2200 had the black ink limit set at 24 for that
profile. The other ink limits would be set at different points.

If you printed an ink limit chart with IJC/OPM for your 7600, and it
showed that you get the deepest black at step 14, you could ratio
your ink limits in the new profile as follows:

Set black ink limit to 14 (per your ink limit test chart). Then
ratio back your ink limits using 14/24 (or 0.58) as the multiplier.
So, if the LK ink position was previously set at 15, you would adjust
it to 8 (14 X 0.58 = 8.17). Do the same for the rest of the active
inks.

This will get you very close to where you want to be. Then if you
wanted you could make final tweaks to perfect the profile to your
tastes.

If you had previous profiles for your printer, you would do the exact
same thing. This assumes you are keeping the inkset and papers the
same, of course.
