I've been printing with the pigment quads on matte paper for a few years now. And I make what I think are really good prints, about the best that can be made from my images. And after all that, I still long for the deeper blacks that only glossy paper can give. I've even gone back to printing all my color with dye inks on glossy and am much the happier for it though they will fade quickly in the light! I've seen gorgeous prints on "fine art" papers, but for most of my photographs I want...more. It's not like we're talking politics here, (or Mac vs. PC!). There is a real need for the option of greater dynamic range in digital monochrome prints and I don't think one needs to be a well sold artist to see this. I find this forum very valuable in learning about solutions and strategies to make the best B&W prints I can. Thanks everyone. And thanks for letting me get this off my chest... -bruce
