Re: [Digital BW] Epson C86, MIS BO Beginner

2005-06-15 by Jordan Wosnick

I have had a lot of success with BO mode in with my C86, both with
the Epson OEM black ink and with the MIS Eboni ink. In fact, when I
got the EZ inkset and installed it, I had a hard time
distinguishing the EZ inkset prints from my BO prints of the same
file at normal viewing distances (though the tone of the BO prints
is perceptibly warmer).

Lately I've been having some banding problems with BO, though. I
need to do some alignments or cleanings to try to fix that.

There may be sample variability among printers that leads to people
reporting varying degrees of success with the C86 in BO mode.
Really, all I did was check "Black Ink Only" and go for it. The
results (until recently) have been great and BO mode uses FAR less
ink than the printing with the full EZ inkset.
