The chips on the cartridges tell the printer what ink is in them.   The most
likely scenario is that the black ink cart - which can be matte or photo black -
is opposite of what you told the printer you were loading.  Unfortunately
once you are in that state I think you have to load a properly chipped cart
to proceed.
