The > black carts don't have this special programming. There is nothing special about the carts. If the printer gets dye ink, it sets itself for dye, if it gets pigment, it sets for pigment. I think the problem might be initializing the printer with third party carts, and it may not like that. Turning off the ink check may allow the printer to initialize with any cart installed even third party carts. Then again it may not.
