I can say this: I am running Win98SE with the Dell P991 19" monitor (Sony Trinitron) with the same nVidia Graphics card (though probably a different manufacturer - nVidia makes the guts and others incorporate them into the cards) and everything works fine. So at least it is probably not the hardware. I am using the Detonator 3 driver which works fine, so try that out. They have come out with a new driver called XP 21.82 (which applies to Win98SE as well) which didn't work for me but has worked for others. Maybe download a new nVidia driver and see what happens.
