RE: [Digital BW] 2200 microbanding

2005-06-26 by Paul Roark

It sounds like it's time to clean the underside of the head. Junk seems to
build up next to a jet and ends up deflecting it.

In the past I used a folded strip of paper towel for this (1/2 inch wide
after being folded to 3 thicknesses). Now I use 1/2 inch cloth bias tape
(from Wal-Mart of any sewing shop).

I soak the bias tape with Windex, put it in the trough of the printer where
the head goes, release the head (printer off), and move the head over the
tape. Once it's over the tape, I grab the ends of the tape and pull it back
and forth across the head. (Expect black fingers.)

Once this is done, a single cleaning cycle usually gets rid of the deflected
jet.

If this doesn't work, it might be time to load cleaning fluid and let it sit
for a week.

Good luck.
