this is ridiculous. If there is some routine you can run through the front panel that will allow it to accept the new black cart, you can then simply print a bunch of solid K until the new has completely replaced the old in the line. We do this all the time with x600 printers using the "african" method. Epson's routines are strictly for the naive, to sell more ink.
