Hi Bernard:

This may be just the answer for you.  Try to use the transfer function, but 
put in 5-4 10-9  50-50  60-60 70-70 80-80 90-91 95-96 100-100

That way you don't need to adjust the curves at all.

If that doesn't work, try increasing the contrast slider in the driver by a 
few points.
