2400 very cool machine

2005-07-14 by Douglas meeuwsen

Well, I just did some test prints, (all on the sheets of premium glossy
that came with the machine), and every single one of them was what I
would call excellent. I tried all the diferent color management systems
like icc profiles, colorsync, sliders, and advanced BW. Every single
print was great. The color matched my powerbook screen exactly on all
the systems. I could tell no diference really. The epson icc profile
looked exactly like the sliders a center with the "vivid" setting. The
others were the same colors except just a little less saturation. Just
barely diferent. The advance BW mode really works. Kind of spooky to
get perfect neutral, cool, or warm, or sepia tones without wasteing 5
or six sheets. The cool setting is very subtle. If you put it next to
the neutral print, you might say the neutral one is "warm". The "warm
setting is more obvious, but very nice. The sepia is nice too, and I
generally dont like sepia too much.
Like i said, so far i have only tried Premium glossy, which usually is
too glossy for me, but these look pretty nice. There is no bronzing at
all, but there is a teensy bit of gloss diferential in the highlights.
The highlights are a bit more dull. That is weird compared to MIS
UT2/glop, where the highlights are are more glossy. The "highlight
shift" button does not seem to do anything so far, with my test print.

now I just need to get some profiles for my other papers from somewhere

I hope this printer doesn't take all the fun out of printing!
