Re: Intro and question - R800 - BO - K7 - Other?

2005-08-11 by andrew

I print B&W from my R800 using Epson Premium Glossy, Ultrachrome inks
and a custom ICC profile. To my eye the prints are damn-near neutral,
punchy and don't seem to give anything away to the Ilford Multigrade
prints my wife used to produce in the darkroom. They have none of the
colour shifts and shimmery rainbow look of 2100 (2200) B&W prints. I
realise they're not the same as a fine-art print on a matte paper --
and I do some of that using QTR and Photo Rag on my 2100 -- but to me
they are at least reasonable, if not good, prints. Now I freely admit
that I'm no expert and I'm more than keen to keep learning, so I'm
completely happy to be enlightened about their failings.
