I do know that the matte black and photo black are a neutral black, not like the warm tone that Epson uses. This set uses parts of the Image Specialists UltraPro ink set that I use (Mk, PK, C, M, Y) and a new mix of the light cyan and magenta, and the light black (LLk). I don't know much more about the new colors, I haven't tried to get samples yet. And yes the photo black really is about as glossy as the other colors, and yes they were all very glossy for the little bit of testing that I did on some luster papers. As always, custom profiles will give you the best results with these inks. Alternately, you can drain the ink from the larger carts used by the 4800 or 78/9800 to save a little money.
