Digital BW, The Print

I know, the Canon i9900 isn't the greatest for BW printing.  But that
is  my printer.  So..

Does anyone have feelings about the best paper (both glossy and
matte), and settings for this printer?  As expected, I am having a
little trouble getting tint-free images, even after adjusting printer
color.
