Hi all. My name is Louis Meluso. I am Photography Manager for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. At work I print fine art subjects on an Epson 7600, 5500 and R2400. I've been lurking here for a while and find it very interesting and informative. Since this question came up I thought I would jump in and say hello. I just bought a new C86 and MIS-EZ-N inkset to make some nice B&W prints at home. The inital investment is quite reasonable and the setup was easy. I started off using Paul Roark's suggested settings but found them a bit too flat for my machine. Initally my very first prints had bad overspray "dots" on the edge of the image and bad banding. I found I could not get a clean black nozzle check. New machine so I figured no clog but air bubble in the line. I shut the printer down and let it sit overnight and restarted the next day. Surprise! Perfect nozzle check! Perfect purge print. No overspray! I'm stoked! I took a couple hours of running scales and some small test images to get at driver/PS curve setting that gave me good range and separation on EEM and HPR. I can't say it was really quite "EZ" but now my prints are looking real nice and smooth. I think the word "wow" did leave my lips at one point. Not quite the brilliance of BO printing but I think with a bit more tweaking of the curve it will yeild very satisfying results with great tonal smoothness. I haven't tried refilling the carts yet but it looks fairly straight forward. I say jump in! My thanks to the many that share information and experiences on this forum. It has helped me a great deal. Louis Meluso
