That processor is still pretty competitive. Personally, I would add more RAM. If the mother board can accept non-Rambus RAM, explore replacing all the RAM and uping the thing to 2GB. Might end up cheaper than buying more Rambus RAM. Should be dandy for handling run of the mill RAW images of DSLR, even at 1.5GB. (BTW, I just did a 512MB -> 1.5GB upgrade myself quite economically and easily on my own PC). I'd wait to get a new box until the multi-core chips become mainstream over the next year or so and the software catches up to adequately use them. With the simpler power/head disipation and single memory controller of a multicore chip (and lots of other stuff) vs. a true multiprocessor box, the multi-core computers should provide a nice power boost at a relatively big discount to current multi-cpu computers. So that's why I'd wait before plunking down $1,6K on a new box.
