Subject: [Digital BW] Do I need a new computer?

Greetings:

My current computer seems to not be handling PSCS2 and Bridge very
well with very long processing times and hang up's when running both
Bridge and PSCS2. I need to figure out whether to install more RAM
or get a new computer. Here are my specs:

Dell Dimension 8200, Pentium 4 2.53Ghz, 512MB RDRAM (this is that
Rambus RAM that many don't use anymore), GeForce Ti4200 card with
DVI out, CRT monitor, 40GB drive, added by me 300GB second drive,
300GB external Maxtor 1 touch drive for backup, XP home.

It looks like I can add a max of 1 GB more RDRAM for about $500 and
will need to flash my BIOS to make it work.

The other option is to buy a new computer and just quickly searching
Dell for a 2GB RAM machine looks like about $1600 but would have a
new flat screen included. Perhaps it is also good to wait to buy a
new machine when all the new PC OS, 64 bit, and other enhancements
become prime time perhaps in the next year of so.

My question is this: Will simply putting 1 GB more RAM (for a total
now of 1.5GB)help me out and is it silly to spend so much on a new
machine that I am not sure I need. My GOAL is to have PSCS2 and
Bridge working smoothly and quickly.
