Scott,

Upgrading from 1gb to 2gb has absolutely been the best upgrade I ever did to
my computer. My files often weigh in at 150-300mb each, and photoshop became
_much_ faster when working with those files. It felt like upgrading to a
totally new computer. 

Bridge and ACR still seems awfully slow though. I work much faster in
Rawshooter Essentials 2005. Maybe for those applications a faster processor
would help. I have an Athlon XP2600.

Make sure to test the memory before working on anything important. I got a
faulty chip the first time round, but nothing on my system detected any
errors. I just noticed noticed files getting corrupt and my system becoming
more unstable, so I figured it had to be the memory - But only after losing
several files I spent a lot of time working on. Very scary. 

Prime95 has a test mode will reveal any faults on a memeory chip:
