Digital BW, The Print

I am asking here because of the combined b&w expertise. 

I am looking for a MF film scanner. Scouring the web didn't resolve
the issue between Nikon coolscan 9000 and Microtek 120tf. 
There are rumours about the Microtek's better handling of b&w 
but lots of complaints about film holders etc. The complaint threads 
have a way of petering out; so one never knows how general the
problem is, and whether it has been resolved (e.g. "soft banding", 
autofocus errors).
Can anyone help, esp. on the comparative handling of b&w? Thanks very
much.
