Thanks Eric, tried that too. I hope to return the printer. I will have to
research about another way to print bigger than letter size. Dan

You can always try unplugging the printer to let the printer's memory
reset.  I've had this happen a couple of times with both my 1280 and
2200.  Turning the printer off by using the power button is
insufficient to reset the memory, only removing the power source will
do it.
