Digital BW, The Print

Hi folks,

I've been using a C86 with EZ inks for a while, and have been quite  
happy with it. I have one problem though, I'm not able to get any  
nice tones in the shadows.
The problem is the transition from deep black to lighter shadow. In  
the highlight and middle tone I get great tones though...

On the first one, I'm having problem with his right chin, there is a  
100% black belt separating his chin from the background
On the second, there is 100% black mottling in the background on the  
right side.

Any suggestions to improve the shadows?

Mac OS10.4.2, PSCS2, EZ ink on EEM.
