Re: K7

John,

Neutral K7 is a carbon inket. Its a mixture of carbon based pigments which have been
formulated to be neutral when used on a very popular shade of white fine art inkjet paper.
The dMax is controlled by the Black position. Our intention with the black position was a
pure pigment black similar to the Museum Black in the PiezoTone inksets. It is possible to
substitute another black for greater dMax if you choose. Piezography Portfolio Black would
give nearly 2/3 a stop. However, there is a control in QuadTone RIP which allows for
greater black density and we found the K7 pure pigment black to be nearly as dense when
printed as the Portfolio Black is with PiezographyBW ICC and iQuads.

I am certain that users can give their impression of density. But I wanted to correct what I
interpreted as your understanding that K7 was not based on carbon.

regards,

Jon Cone
