I had an interest in this as I was thinking about getting a 300D to go
with 35mm Contax lenses, and recalled seeing this thread during my
research.

If the guy's right, I'm afraid it's bad news.

fwiw, I ended up buying a Pentax because I figured focussing would be
too difficult.
