Hi Susan; I don't know the exact volume of ink in the lines of that machine, but I measured the 7600 at about 20ml per damper/line. Even at half that, repeated switching would be time consuming and expensive. If you need to do both color and B&W your best choice might be to leave color inks (either UC or MIS equivalents with Eboni K) and run the B&W with QTR. There is a good selection of curves available for the 4000, and you can make some pretty fair ones yourself without a densitometer. It wouldn't be as smooth as the K7s but considering the fine dots and high dither available, you would still get some very good results.
