Hello Jay, I've dealt with this recently myself. The method I used to determine the black point and white point is to open the image>layers>levels> then hold down the alt key and move the left sliding button just enough to move it>the image will go away and place of it will be just some areas showing the darkest part of the image>choose an area from that image and it will reset the 0 to a number that represents the darkest part of the image. Do the same with the white (highest level) and use these as a standard starting point for the rest of your images.
