Jay,

Try setting your black output level (not input level) in levels to 25 then.
That, I believe, redefines 25 as 0 and shifts everything above accordingly
in your printer.

I am finding that to my eye the output is extremely neutral. However,
after printing some graduation test images I'm finding that RGB values
from approximately 25,25,25 on down are all printing as black- i.e.
the printer is printing too dark. I plan to experiment with
curves/levels adjustments and/or custom profiles to resolve this. I
have no doubt that I'll be able to get output that is good enough for me.

Hello Jay,

I've dealt with this recently myself. The method I used to determine
the black point and white point is to open the image>layers>levels>
then hold down the alt key and move the left sliding button just
enough to move it>the image will go away and place of it will be
just some areas showing the darkest part of the image>choose an area
from that image and it will reset the 0 to a number that represents
the darkest part of the image. Do the same with the white (highest
level) and use these as a standard starting point for the rest of
your images.

Your friend in Photography,

Johnny

Another one bites the dust

Heard this today.

Agfa Photo is going to be history. AgfaPhoto GmbH, Germany, will
cease to exist after December 31st, 2005. A take-over offer by a
U.K. firm has fallen through.
