RE: [Digital BW] New class of cameras ? Sony DSC-R1

2005-09-11 by Michael Vendrell

Paul, I too miss TechP an(and Agfapan 25) especially in the 120 size. I
have quite a few old 8x10'' negs which so far i haven't found an economical
and good way to scan and only recently got good scans (d-max issues) from my
35 and 120 negs using the new Nikon 9000, I would think that this forum
would benefit from inclusion of all of the steps required to obtain GOOD B&W
digital prints - as long as it doesn't degerate into a brand-name war such
as others have decried. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.

I'm also new to this forum and don'tknow whether i should be responding on
the list site, altho' i'm having some technicalissues with using that site
- please advise me as to how i should procede and/or forward this to the
site,,,Thanks again...michael

Do we need a new forum for discussions of digital capture as it relates to
B&W? Perhaps all image capture issues -- scanning, film, etc. -- should be
on a new forum? Is there a way to link thread to this one so that we don't
all have to monitor another forum to be alerted to a thread of interest?

As it relates to the new Sony, how does the use of the sensor for viewing
affect image noise, if at all?

Does the viewing system use more battery power?

The viewing concept does make sense if there are no negative affects on the
image quality and battery use is reasonable.
